Facebook Suspends Candace Owens For Saying Liberal Policies Incentivize Fatherless Homes

Facebook has truly jumped the shark.

The social media monopoly has suspended activist and commentator Candace Owens for the crime of claiming that liberal policies incentivize fatherless homes in the black community.

Owens was hit with a 7 day ban for posting, “Black America must wake up to the great liberal hoax. White supremacy is not a threat. Liberal supremacy is.”

She then included a screenshot of a tweet which pointed out that the poverty rate amongst married blacks is 7 per cent, compared to 22 per cent for blacks generally.

“My @facebook page has been suspended for 7 days for posting that white supremacy is not a threat to black America, as much as father absence and & liberal policies that incentivize it, are,” she tweeted. “I am censored for posting the poverty rates in fatherless homes.”

Facebook Letter Designates Infowars As Terrorist Organization

Facebook has released a statement further explaining their rationale for banning Alex Jones and Paul Joseph Watson from its platform last week.

The statement, obtained through a confidential media source, claims Jones and Infowars is on a “violent or hateful mission,” and listed several “signals” they say helped them determine if the ban was appropriate, including whether we follow a “hateful ideology,” whatever that means.

“We’ve always banned individuals or organizations that proclaim a violent or hateful mission or are engaged in acts of hate or violence. This is true regardless of ideology or motivation,” the statement reads.

Facebook claims they go through an “extensive process” to decide who is “dangerous,” including:

– Whether they’ve called for or directly carried out acts of violence against people based on factors like race, ethnicity or national origin.

– Whether they’re a self-described or identified follower of a hateful ideology.

– Whether they use hate speech or slurs in their About section on Facebook, Instagram or another social media site.

– Whether they’ve had Pages or Groups removed from Facebook, or accounts removed from Instagram, for posting content that goes against our hate speech policies.

Considering Infowars or Alex Jones clearly don’t meet any of those standards, one wonders what sort of “evidence” Facebook uncovered to implement such a harsh degree of censorship against us.

It’s likely Facebook simply decided that espousing conservative views or opinions contrary to their corporate echo chamber is enough to determine that one is on a “violent or hateful mission.”

Facebook security app used to ‘spy’ on competitors

A report by a Commons committee has detailed Facebook’s use of an application to “spy” on users.

The cross-party group said that Facebook used its Onavo virtual private network (VPN) app to gather information on competitors.

The MPs claim Facebook “intentionally and knowingly violated both data privacy and anti-competition laws”.

The report, which is more than 100 pages long, also details the influence of fake news on the site in elections.

Monitoring competitors

The Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Committee wrote that through the use of Onavo, which was billed as a way to give users an extra layer of security, Facebook could “collect app usage data from its customers to assess not only how many people had downloaded apps, but how often they used them”.

The report added: “This knowledge helped them to decide which companies were performing well and therefore gave them invaluable data on possible competitors. They could then acquire those companies, or shut down those they judged to be a threat.”

A graph the committee includes in the report shows an analysis of data collected with Onavo, detailing how commonly apps were used by Facebook owned and rival services.

In 2013, Facebook offered to buy rival Snapchat for $3bn (£2.32bn). It acquired Instagram a year earlier for $1bn.

In 2014, the company successfully acquired WhatsApp for $19bn in cash and shares.

Limiting Vine

The report also details the way the company could shut off access to its services to competitors.

For example, in 2013 Facebook founder and chief executive Mark Zuckerberg was informed about the launch of the Vine video service by social media rival Twitter.

He was told via email that Twitter was going to allow Vine users to find friends on Facebook.

“Unless anyone raises objections, we will shut down their friends’ API access today.” the email read – a move that would prevent Vine users from inviting their Facebook friends to the service.

Zuckerberg agreed to the move, replying “Yup, go for it.”

Twitter eventually chose to close Vine in 2016.

Whitelisting

According to the report, as of November 2013, more than 5,000 apps on Facebook were “whitelisted”, meaning that they could gain special access to user data and the data of those user’s Facebook friends.

Whitelisted companies included ride-hailing app Lyft, Airbnb and Netflix.

An internal email discussed linking a yearly spend of $250,000 on advertising to maintain company access to user Facebook data.

An email from Mr Zuckerberg, sent in October 2012, outlined his scepticism about the risk of data leaks happening between Facebook application developers.

“I think we leak info to developers, but I just can’t think of any instances where that data has leaked from developer to developer and caused a real issue for us,” he wrote.

Last year, Facebook was fined £500,000 by the UK’s data protection watchdog for its role in the Cambridge Analytica scandal.

The Information Commissioner’s Office said that the social media giant had given developers access to user data “without clear consent”.

User data which was collected through a personality quiz was used by Cambridge Analytica to profile potential voters.

NBC Smears Triple Amputee Purple Heart Vet Because He Ran a Conservative Facebook Page

NBC News smeared triple amputee Iraq war vet Brian Kolfage – the man behind the GoFundMe of the border wall – because the purple heart recipient once ran a right-wing Facebook page.

Is there no low to which the mainstream media won’t stoop?

In an article entitled Founder of viral fundraiser for Trump’s border wall has questionable news past, Ben Collins and Brandy Zadrozny try to impugn Kolfage’s credibility by dropping the *bombshell* revelation that he once ran a conservative Facebook page called Right Wing News.

The horror!

The page was banned by Facebook earlier this year as part of the social media giant’s purge of anti-establishment political content.

According to NBC News, the page “frequently trafficked in conspiracy theories,” which to the mainstream media means anything that counters their narrative.

In claiming Kolfage has a “questionable past,” NBC News and others are clearly lobbying GoFundMe to remove the page and deplatform the Iraq war vet.

Of course the real reason the media is going after Kolfage is that his GoFundMe effort has been incredibly successful, raising over $13 million dollars in the space of just four days.

Singapore PM Files Defamation Suit Against Blogger For Sharing an Article on Facebook

Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has filed a defamation suit against a financial adviser and blogger who shared an article on his Facebook page, Lee’s spokeswoman said on Wednesday.

The defendant, Leong Sze Hian, said on his Facebook page he had “merely shared” the article from a Malaysian online news media about Lee and Malaysia’s 1MDB state fund without adding any comments or changing the content.

He said he was “bewildered” to receive a letter subsequently from lawyers asserting that posting the article was malicious and damaged the reputation of Prime Minister Lee.

Facebook And Russia: U.K. Seizes ‘Thousands’ Of Emails

Internal emails flagged by a U.K. lawmaker as evidence Facebook Inc. knew Russian-linked entities were harvesting data earlier than previously thought, have become the latest battleground between the social media giant and U.K. lawmakers.

Following a public hearing Tuesdaybetween international lawmakers and a senior Facebook executive, the U.S. company released a heavily redacted internal email chain from late 2014, that showed concerns over large volumes of data requests appearing to originate from Russian-based IP addresses.

A later email, from a redacted sender, said that the requests instead came from Pinterest servers, and may be evidence of a technical error. Competing internet companies routinely build tools that let developers of one platform request data from another, to help users share content between both sites or see which of their friends have recently signed up.

The email chain, two pages-long, is part of a trove of documents that potentially number in the thousands, currently held by U.K. lawmakers and likely to be released early next week, according to two people with knowledge of the situation.

A committee of U.K. lawmakers obtained the documents after it compelled the founder of a U.S. software company, Six4Three, to hand over a large cache during a business trip to London. The Six4Three founder had obtained the documents as part of a legal discovery process in a U.S. lawsuit against Facebook that his company has brought against the social network in California.

Facebook has previously asked the judge at the San Mateo County Superior Court, to levy sanctions against Six4Three and its founder for violating his order sealing the documents. A hearing has been set for Friday in San Mateo, where the judge is set to hear an explanation of the leak.

“Facebook have broken the seal on the documents now,” said Damian Collins, head of the committee investigating the impact of fake news. “We intend to do that too. It’ll be interesting to see if the court in California also decides to do the same.”

Pinterest didn’t immediately respond to a request to comment.

Collins, who has been repeatedly calling on Facebook to hand over data regarding Russian influence on its platform, said in a hearing Tuesdaythat he had reviewed an email from a Facebook engineer highlighting suspicious Russian-linked data harvesting on Facebook two years before 2016.

Previously, Facebook has said it was unaware of the sort of Russian activity it has been accused of allowing to take place on its platform, until after the 2016 election.

Facebook said that the document cited by Collins was taken out of context. “The engineers who had flagged these initial concerns subsequently looked into this further and found no evidence of specific Russian activity,” the company said in an email to Bloomberg, adding that the incident related to “legitimate” data requests from Pinterest.

Lawmakers from the U.K. and other nations lambasted Facebook during the hearing for abusing public trust and failing to provide honest answers to questions about the misuse of user data.

Soros Foundation Takes Aim at Facebook

The head of billionaire George Soros’ foundation called for congressional oversight of Facebook, after the social media giant finally took some responsibility for hiring a PR firm to smear its critics as agents of Soros.

“So @facebook decides to drop a turkey on Thanksgiving eve, with admission that Definers was tasked by company leadership to target and smear George Soros because he publicly criticized their out of control business model. Sorry, but this needs independent, congressional oversight,” Open Society Foundations head Patrick Gaspard tweeted on Wednesday night.

Gaspard was responding to an admission by Facebook’s outgoing Head of Communications and Policy Elliot Schrage, who owned up top hiring a PR firm – Washington, DC-based Definers – to attack Facebook’s critics and label them agents of Soros, a billionaire and prominent liberal donor.

In a blog post, Schrage admitted that he tasked Definers with pushing the Soros angle, namely that the billionaire was funding the activist group ‘Freedom from Facebook.’

After learning that Soros did in fact fund some of the group’s members, Schrage said Definers “prepared documents and distributed these to the press to show that this was not simply a spontaneous grassroots movement.” Schrage maintained that Facebook did not ask Definers to create ‘fake news,’ despite a former employee telling NBC that Definers had its own “in-house fake news shop” to spread its message.

The relationship was revealed in an explosive New York Times report last week that accused Facebook’s senior leadership of mismanaging a multitude of scandals, from ‘Russian interference’ in the 2016 election to the Cambridge Analytica privacy debacle earlier this year.

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg and COO Sheryl Sandberg both denied any knowledge of the company’s hiring of Definers, despite an official statement describing the relationship between Facebook and Definers as “well known in the media.”

Soros’ associates have been relentless in calling for change at Facebook, even since before the New York Times’ story broke. In January, Soros himself called Facebook and other Silicon Valley tech “monopolies” a “menace” to society whose “days are numbered.” Last week, Michael Vachon, an adviser to the chair at Soros Fund Management, called on Facebook to undertake an audit of all of its lobbying and PR relationships.

Nor were they buying Zuckerberg’s protestations of innocence.

“I find it hard to believe that one would go after someone like George Soros…without some clearance at the highest levels,” Gaspard told CNN on Tuesday night.

Zuckerberg appears to be holding firm, though. In his own interview with CNN on Tuesday, the 34-year-old CEO issued his trademark style of meandering, deflective denial when host Laurie Segall asked if he knew anything about the affair.

“Well…uhh…I learned about this when I read the report as well…I don’t think this point was about a specific PR firm, it was about how we act. That’s why I think it’s not just important what we’re doing with this one firm, but that we go through and look at all of the different PR firms and folks we work with,” Zuckerberg replied.

After spending much of the year apologizing for one privacy screw-up after another, Zuckerberg is once again back in the spotlight. Despite falling stock prices, shareholder moves to oust him, and now Soros’ wealth and influence pushing against him, Zuckerberg was defiant.

Asked whether he’d ever step down as Facebook’s chairman – Zuckerberg is both chairman and CEO of the company – he replied “that’s not the plan.”

“There are certainly going to be issues that we need to work through over time,” Zuckerberg continued. “But I think that while we are doing that, we can’t lose sight of all of the really positive things that are happening here as well.”

Facebook blocks 115 accounts ahead of US midterm elections

Facebook announced Monday evening that it had blocked 115 accounts on its services that may have been engaged in “coordinated inauthentic behavior” ahead of the U.S. midterm elections.

The company said U.S. law enforcement notified Facebook on Sunday of the accounts’ online activity, saying they believed the accounts “may be linked to foreign entities.”

“Given that we are only one day away from important elections in the U.S., we wanted to let people know about the action we’ve taken and the facts as we know them today,” the company said in its blog post

Facebook Suspends #WalkAway Founder For Mentioning Alex Jones

Facebook has slapped a 30-day suspension on #WalkAway founder Brandon Straka for simply mentioning Alex Jones.

Straka took to Twitter Wednesday to explain he’d been temporarily banned from Facebook ahead of the #WalkAway March on Washington next month, where thousands of disillusioned former Democrats are slated to rally together to show their disgust with the Democrat Party before the midterms.

“FACEBOOK JUST BANNED ME AS I AM PLANNING THE #WalkAway March on Washington!!! I have been banned from posting leading up to the March. This is devastated for our ability to reach people!!! I was banned for mentioning my interview with Alex Jones. Can anybody help???” he tweeted Wednesday.

Straka included screenshots of Facebook’s vague explanation of the suspension, which stated, “If you post something that goes against our standards again, your account will be blocked for another 30 days.”

In a statement to Infowars, Straka claimed he was banned for posting, “Hey, Patriots! I’m going live on http://InfoWars.com in 15 minutes.”

Straka’s WalkAway YouTube channel has already amassed nearly 56,000 subscribers since he launched it earlier this summer, which is why the left is determined to shut down the grassroots movement.

Indeed, leftist media like CNN and Huffington Post demonized the WalkAway movement last month, claiming with no proof that it was a “Russian bot” campaign meant to “wound Democrats.”
