Riots on Temple Mount, Palestinians throw explosive device at police

The Jerusalem Police closed all entrances to the Temple Mount on Tuesday after Palestinians reportedly threw a Molotov cocktail at a police outpost on the compound.

Dozens of policemen entered the compound after the incident..

The policemen ordered all worshipers to leave the compound. Eyewitnesses said scuffles broke out between the police and scores of Palestinians.

The incident took place a day after Interior Public Security Minister Gilad Erdan vowed that there will be “no second mosque on the Temple Mount” and said that, “God willing” Jews will be able to pray there freely “in the future.”

The office of Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas condemned the events and warned of an escalation as a result of these clashes, Ynet reported.

Abbas’s office further said he is engaged in “intensive discussions” with Jordan and other parties to prevent further escalations.

At age 30, World Wide Web is ‘not the web we wanted’

At the ripe old age of 30 and with half the globe using it, the World Wide Web is facing growing pains with issues like hate speech, privacy concerns and state-sponsored hacking, its creator says, trumpeting a call to make it better for humanity.

Tim Berners-Lee on Tuesday joined a celebration of the Web and reminisced about his invention at CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, starting with a proposal published on March 12, 1989. It opened the way to a technological revolution that has transformed the way people buy goods, share ideas, get information and much more.

It’s also become a place where tech titans scoop up personal data, rival governments spy and seek to scuttle elections, and hate speech and vitriol have thrived — taking the Web far from its roots as a space for progress-oriented minds to collaborate.

As of late 2018, half of the world was online, with the other half often struggling to secure access.

Speaking at a “Web@30” conference at CERN, Berners-Lee acknowledged that a sense among many who are already on the Web has become: “Whoops! The web is not the web we wanted in every respect.”

His World Wide Web Foundation wants to enlist governments, companies, and citizens to take a greater role in shaping the web for good under principles laid out in its “Contract for the Web.”

Under the contract, governments are called upon to make sure everyone can connect to the internet, to keep it available and to respect privacy. Companies are to make the internet affordable, respect privacy and develop technology that will put people — and the “public good” — first. Citizens are to create and to cooperate and respect “civil discourse,” among other things.

“The Contract for the Web is about sitting down in working groups with other people who signed up, and to say, ‘Ok, let’s work out what this really means,’” Berners-Lee said. It was unclear, however, how such rules would be enforced.

Berners-Lee cautioned it was important to strike a balance between oversight and freedom but difficult to agree what it should be.

“Where is the balance between leaving the tech companies to do the right thing and regulating them? Where is the balance between freedom of speech and hate speech?” he said.

The conference, which brought together Internet and tech experts, also gave CERN the chance to showcase its reputation as an open-source incubator of ideas. Berners-Lee worked there in the late 1980s, and had been determined to help bridge a communications and documentation gap among different computer platforms.

Press access may be curbed at hearing on Epstein sex abuse

court hearing on whether to unseal sensitive documents involving the alleged sex trafficking of underage girls by Palm Beach multimillionaire Jeffrey Epstein — and the possible involvement of his influential friends — will play out in a New York City courtroom next week.

But it may happen behind closed doors, with the news media and public barred — at least in part.

An attorney for lawyer Alan Dershowitz wrote a letter to the U.S. District Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit on Tuesday, asking whether the media should be excluded from the proceeding because his oral arguments on behalf of his client could contain sensitive information that has been under seal.

The appeals court had not responded to his concern as of Friday, but if the hearing is closed during his lawyer’s argument, it would represent the latest in a long history of successful efforts to keep details of Epstein’s sex crimes sealed.

Poll: 63% Say Govt Shutdown Has Had No Impact On Them At All

Though our political class is whining incessantly about the partial government shutdown, the overwhelming majority of Americans say the shutdown has had zero effect on their lives.

From 13 News Now:

[A] new Rasmussen Reports poll of 1,000 likely voters shows that only nine percent say the shutdown has had a major impact on their personal lives. Sixty-three percent say the shutdown has had no impact at all on them.

I’d say odds are most of the 9 percent who say it’s had “a major impact on their personal lives” would say it has had a major positive impact!

The sun is shining and the birds are chirping!

There is absolutely no reason Trump or the GOP should cave on the demand for a measly $5 billion for a wall. They should be asking for the full $25 billion.

Key Yellow Vest Figure Arrested by Police at Paris Demonstration

Eric Drouet, one of the key figures in the French Gilets Jaunes (Yellow Vest) movement, has been arrested for organising an event without prior declaration.

Mr Drouet, who has been one of the leading figures of the Yellow Vests and has appeared frequently on French media, was taken into custody on Wednesday while heading for the Champs-Élysées after calling for a spontaneous demonstration online, according to a Paris prosecutor, Le Figaro reports.

The arrest is not the first for Drouet who was also taken into custody at the “Act VI” demonstration on December 22nd for being in possession of an illegal weapon when he was caught carrying a baton.

The Yellow Vest activist came to national prominence in France after an appearance on broadcaster BFMTV in which he suggested the protesters mobilise and enter the Élysées Palace, the seat of French President Emmanuel Macron.

YouTube Begins Injecting Direct Links To CNN At Top Of Search Results

Google-owned YouTube has introduced a new “feature” whereby news-related search terms now offer links directly to CNN’s website as the number one result.

A search for “Trump Romney” early Thursday brought up a link to an article on CNN’s website under a box dubbed “Developing news.”

The number one video result was also CNN.

Though they started putting links to Wikipedia at the top of “conspiracy-related” search results last year, this is the first time I’ve seen it for regular news.

As I reported last year, YouTube rigged all their search results to favor corporate news organizations rather than actual YouTubers.

As I wrote in August, 2018: “With YouTube’s new search algorithm, if you search the exact title of Ann Coulter’s recent appearance on C-SPAN you have to scroll through 22 unrelated results from establishment news organizations before you can find it.”

“Google has turned YouTube search from a tool giving you access to millions of independent YouTubers to a censored, walled garden which gives you search results from a tiny cadre of establishment media outlets.”

Evidently that wasn’t good enough, so now they’re just injecting CNN’s propaganda directly at the top of their results.

Two weeks ago, a pro-abortion Slate reporter said YouTube “changed search results” for abortion “after I asked.”

Paiutes sell most expensive pot product to date at Las Vegas dispensary

A marijuana specialty product sold for a record price of $11,000 Friday night at a mega-dispensary on tribal land near downtown Las Vegas.

Brandon Hawkins, 36, flew in from Los Angeles on Friday morning to purchase the pot-stuffed, hemp- and 24-karat gold leaf-coated Leira Cannagar — a 24-gram marijuana flower-stuffed blunt — in the early evening hours at Nuwu Cannabis Marketplace. Buying for a business partner who requested anonymity, Hawkins held six large stacks of rubber band-held $20 bills to make the record purchase just after 5 p.m. Friday.

“I’ve always been a proponent of the industry and I’m happy that it has come this far,” he said.

Hawkins, who owns The Hudson restaurant in West Hollywood and lived in Las Vegas for a decade before moving to L.A. in 2012, connected with Las Vegas grower Virtue to arrange the purchase three months ago.

The Los Angeles buyers were inspired by a $10,000 cannagar, sold in Seattle in June, and wanted something similar to celebrate New Year’s Eve. Ranson Shepherd, co-founder of Virtue, and Hawkins knew each other through their previous employment in the Las Vegas nightlife industry, they said.

Shepherd contacted Ariel Payopay, whose Washington state-based producer Leira made the Seattle cannagar, and the two developed a partnership to launch Leira’s cannagars in Las Vegas. In addition to Nuwu, the company plans to market smaller versions of their cannagars for public sale at The Apothecarium, ShowGrow, The Grove and Nevada Made dispensaries.

On Friday, Hawkins walked out to the center of the dispensary shopping area and handed Nuwu budtender Joe Delarosa the cash stacks at one of Nuwu’s 13 points of sale. Delarosa turned around, grabbed the box with the Leira cannagar, stuffed with Virtue’s Pure Haze, sativa-dominant hybrid flower. He shook Hawkins’ hand, and the purchase was official.

Meanwhile, business at the dispensary went on as usual as Hawkins thanked the staff and casually left the facility without delay. None of the 20 customers shopping during the early evening hours on Friday seemed to take notice of the $11,000 weed cigar’s sale.

Benny Tso, tribal council member and former chairman of the Las Vegas Paiutes, said Friday’s purchase serves to “complement the store and complement the industry.” As marijuana consumption lounges move closer to opening in Las Vegas, Tso predicted exotic cannagars like the product sold Friday will become a regular commodity for VIP clients at the lounges.

“This is what marijuana table service will look like in Las Vegas,” he said.

But unlike Seattle’s product, the cannagar in Las Vegas was not infused with cannabis rosin due to differences in Nevada state law. The $11,000 cannagar sold Friday was essentially a massive version of popular dispensary pre-rolls, wrapped in hemp and gold instead of tobacco paper.

The tribe was also gifted a smaller, 14-gram cannagar wrapped only in hemp as a token of thanks from Virtue and Leira.

“They’re pushing the boundaries on the industry and creating economic impact,” Shepherd said of the Paiutes. “These are all minorities coming forth to change the stigma of the industry.”

Police Hunt Illegal Alien Still At Large After Murder of Calif. Officer

The man suspected of killing Newman Police Officer Ronil Singh may currently be in an area southeast of San Francisco, according to the Stanislaus County sheriff’s department,

Police warn he is armed and very dangerous.

“This suspect … is in our country illegally,” Stanislaus County Sheriff Adam Christianson said at a press conference Thursday. “He doesn’t belong here. He is a criminal.”

Singh, a Fiji native who’s served on the Newman police force since 2011, was described as an “American patriot” by Newman Police Chief Randy Richardson.

“He came to America with one purpose, and that was to serve this country,” said Chief Richardson.

The Daily Mail reports on the instances that led up to the death of Officer Singh:

Newman Police Department Corporal Ronil Singh, 33, was making a traffic stop early in the morning when he called ‘shots fired’ over his radio, according to the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department.

Singh had pulled over a gray pickup truck in Newman, a small town 100 miles south of San Francisco, after noticing it had no license plate as part of a DUI investigation, Stanislaus County Sheriff Adam Christianson said on Thursday.

Signh fired back to defend himself, Christianson said.

[…]

Officer Singh was found with multiple bullet wounds, and was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The suspect’s vehicle was found 13 hours later at the River Road mobile home park in Newman.

Police released still frames of convenience store surveillance footage prior to the shooting showing the suspect’s face, but have not yet released the suspect’s name.

A search warrant was served at the mobile home park where the suspect’s vehicle was found, where police say they recovered “lots of potential evidence.”

“Fingerprints, DNA, gunshot residue and physical evidence. We’ll be processing the truck to get any evidence to help in the prosecution,” said one police department spokesman, according to the Daily Mail.

While police have not yet identified the suspect’s country of origin, President Trump in a tweet Thursday tied the manhunt to his demands to congress to strengthen border security and build a wall at the southern US border with Mexico.

“There is right now a full scale manhunt going on in California for an illegal immigrant accused of shooting and killing a police officer during a traffic stop. Time to get tough on Border Security. Build the Wall!” the president tweeted.

Attenborough at U.N. Summit: If No Climate Change Action, ‘Collapse of Our Civilizations,’ Extinction ‘On Horizon’

Britain’s Sir David Attenborough, an agnostic, anti-growth, population control advocate and naturalist, said that if the governments of the world do not take action on climate change, then “the collapse of our civilizations and the extinction of much of the natural world is on the horizon.” Attenborough, a Darwinist and former BBC senior manager, has also said that humans “are a plague on the Earth.”

At the United Nations’ Climate Change Conference in Katowice, Poland, which runs this week (Dec. 3-7), Attenborough proclaimed, “Right now, we are facing a man-made disaster of global scale. Our greatest threat in thousands of years: climate change.”

“If we don’t take action, the collapse of our civilizations and the extinction of much of the natural world is on the horizon,” he said.

“The United Nations provides a unique platform that could unite the whole world,” he added. “And, as the Paris Agreement proved, together we can make real change.”

Parking passes cost more than seats at first Clinton U.S. tour stop

Demand is so little in the Bill and Hillary Clinton tour that it actually costs more to park your car than to get in the door.

Fresh off two stops in Canada — which saw empty seats and coughing fits — the Clintons are heading to Sugar Land, Texas for a single stop before the new year.

Kind of sounds like her campaigning schedule in 2016.

A survey of StubHub shows tickets are going for as little as $10.82 for the 8pm show at the Smart Financial Centre.
